Camin d’Olt 3 Castles Loop
A hike that alternates Roman roads, forest passages and splendid panoramas. On the program: crossing of villages where the quietness and the medieval atmosphere are there. Between Aveyron, Lot and Cantal, the diversity of the landscapes and the historical monuments constitute a real change of scenery.

DAY 1 - 12 km
Les Bréfinies ⤍ Grand Vabre
Rendezvous at Les Bréfinies, a hamlet crossed by the famous GR65 - Chemin de Compostelle. The quietness of the place and the surrounding nature announce the atmosphere of this hike. A stay placed under the sign of the discovery with a plunge in the Aveyron history where castles and other monuments bring charm, stamp and authenticity to the villages of the region. Your jump in time begins on the first day with the 1200 year old Monedies Chapel.
At the end of the day, you will arrive in Grand-Vabre, place of your stage.
DAY 2 - 12,5 km
Grand Vabre ⤍ Vieillevie
On the heights of Grand-Vabre, charming hamlets offer a view on the whole town. Something to marvel at! Grand-Vabre is known in relation to Dadon, the hermit at the origin of the Monastery of Conques, who came to retire in this quiet place to meditate.
From Grand-Vabre you will reach the village of Vieillevie where the huge castle will make you feel like an ant. One can imagine what it once represented!
DAY 3 - 15 km
Vieillevie ⤍ Espeyrac
A true medieval fortress, the Vieillevie castle transports you to the time of the knights. Castle of the XIth century, underground, old keep and chimneys of the XIIIth century, the discovery of this monument is a real immersion.
After crossing the Lot, you will discover on the other side of the river, the hamlet of Montarnal which also shelters a fortress and a keep of the XIIIth century.
DAY 4 - 14 km
Espeyrac ⤍ Conques
Espeyrac is a particularly atypical village. A real amphitheater, the village is made up of pretty narrow streets with stairs. In height, facing the valley, the village overlooks the forests.
A nice getaway awaits you! From Espeyrac, direction Conques, medieval village par excellence.
Castle, tower, basilica, houses with half-timbered facades, Romanesque door... Each house and alley is part of this rich historical heritage. A visit that will not leave you indifferent.
DAY 5 - 10,5 km
Conques ⤍ Refined
Take the mythical path of Compostela to return to the place of departure, at Les Bréfinies. After a vertiginous ascent to reach the Chapelle Ste Foy de Conques you will continue your way towards the plateau, which will lead you to the farms of Aujols and Lissoulière.
You will then cross small paths in the forest for a refreshing moment before reaching the flowery hamlet of Clémenties, and finally the Bréfinies.
