Paths of Monédiès by the Chemin des Bagnards
This three-day loop hike will be an opportunity for a total change of scenery far from the hustle and bustle of the world, tablets and screens. Three days where you will appreciate the calm, the nature and the richness of the fauna and the flora of our region on paths formerly used by the donkeys for the transport of the chestnuts and which were also used as a way of communication between the isolated farms like that of the Hermitage of Fraysse where you will spend a night in a Tipi.
This hike is ideal for a first approach to hiking with donkeys!

DAY 1 - 12 km
Les Bréfinies ⤍ Grand Vabre
Your 3-day family hike will start in the hamlet of Les Bréfinies in our Ferme des Ânes de Monédiès, where our Pyrenean donkey farm is located.
Your itinerary will take you to the plateau of Almont-Les-Junies from where you can admire a panorama of the Monts du Cantal and the Plateau de L'Aubrac. You will then cross shady chestnut groves to reach the Chapel of Monédiès, twelve hundred years old, located in the heart of nowhere. The children will feel like they are plunging into the Middle Ages, and it is also an ideal place for your picnic break with water points for your donkeys.
This first day's hike will take you to Grand-Vabre, a picturesque village located at the confluence of the Dourdou and Lot rivers and at the border of three departments, Aveyron, Lot and Cantal.
DAY 2 - 12 km
Grand Vabre ⤍ Le Fraysse
Today's hike will take you to the place called Le Fraysse, whose Occitan name means "the ash tree".
It's a wilderness camp that awaits you, a little piece of paradise that will make your family feel like adventurers and explorers: spending the night in a teepee in the middle of a wild and green meadow, a little stream to splash around in, a forest around to gather firewood and prepare the campfire, grilled food on the barbecue for your dinner.
Calm, serenity, intimacy, and complicity in family, all the ingredients for an unforgettable evening!
DAY 3 - 10,5 km
Le Fraysse ⤍ Les Bréfinies
This stage will make you partly follow the Way of Santiago de Compostela (GR65) and the so-called Chemin des Bagnards.
Between shaded forest track ideal during the hot summer days, small typical villages of Aveyron and hamlets full of flowers, unforgettable panorama on the chain of the Massif Central, this last stage of your stay with donkeys will put you in full sight.
